Single-sitting Root Canal in Chembur

The phrase "root canal" makes people flinch, but the reality in 2026 is closer to a filling than the ordeal most imagine. Modern rotary instruments and electronic apex locators have made the procedure faster, more predictable and far more comfortable than the manual files of a decade ago.

Single-sitting Root Canal in Chembur at The Dental House, Chembur
In short

A root canal removes infected tissue from inside a tooth, relieves pain and saves the tooth from extraction. At The Dental House in Chembur it is done by Dr Niti Shah, who holds an MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, often in a single sitting using a Dentsply rotary endomotor and an i-Root apex locator for precision. Anaesthesia is delivered with a Woodpecker Starpen for a near-painless injection, and NOX nitrous sedation is available for anxious patients. The clinic is open daily, 9am to 9pm, on Shell Colony Road, Chembur East.

At The Dental House, root canals are done by Dr Niti Shah, whose MDS is specifically in conservative dentistry and endodontics, the field dedicated to saving teeth from the inside. A Dentsply endomotor shapes the canals precisely, an i-Root apex locator confirms the exact length so nothing is over- or under-filled, and the Starpen delivers anaesthesia so gently that most patients do not register the injection.

Right fit

Who this suits

  • A tooth with deep decay that has reached or nearly reached the nerve
  • A tooth causing persistent or throbbing pain, especially at night
  • A cracked or fractured tooth where the nerve is exposed or inflamed
  • A tooth that has darkened, often a sign of nerve death
  • A tooth with an abscess or swelling at the root tip
  • Saving a natural tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted
Straight talk

When we will tell you no

An MDS specialist saying a treatment is wrong for you carries more weight than a clinic that offers only one thing.

  • If the tooth is so broken that it cannot support a crown after treatment, extraction and an implant may be the more honest long-term answer, and we will tell you.
  • If the root is fractured vertically, a root canal will not save it. We diagnose this before starting, not after.
  • We do not sell unnecessary root canals. If a deep filling or a pulp cap can save the nerve, we try that first.
How it works

Your treatment, step by step

In this order, because each step depends on what the one before it found. The equipment is named because it is real, and it is what makes each step work.

Diagnosis and X-ray

A Vatech digital X-ray shows the extent of infection and the root anatomy, so the treatment is planned before it begins.

Vatech RVG

Low-radiation digital imaging means a clear picture without the dose of traditional film.

Painless anaesthesia

The Woodpecker Starpen delivers anaesthesia at a controlled rate, so the injection itself is nearly imperceptible. For very anxious patients, NOX nitrous sedation is also available.

Woodpecker Starpen

The injection is usually the part people dread most. Removing that fear changes the entire experience.

Cleaning and shaping the canals

A Dentsply rotary endomotor cleans and shapes the root canals precisely, removing all infected tissue. An i-Root apex locator confirms the exact working length.

Dentsply endomotor

Rotary instruments are faster and more consistent than manual files, which is a large part of why single-sitting root canals are now routine.

Filling and sealing

The cleaned canals are sealed with a biocompatible material, and the tooth is prepared for a crown to protect it.

i-Root apex locator

An accurately filled canal is one that heals predictably. Over-filling and under-filling are the two most common technical errors in endodontics.

Crown placement

A crown is fitted over the treated tooth to restore its shape and strength, because a root-treated tooth without a crown is likely to fracture.

The crown is what makes the root canal last. Skipping it is the most common reason root-treated teeth are eventually lost.

What it costs

Honest pricing

Root canal pricing depends on the tooth (front teeth are simpler than molars) and whether a crown is needed. You get a written quote after the X-ray and assessment.

Questions

Answered by Dr Niti Shah Nagrath

Does a root canal hurt?
With the Starpen and modern anaesthesia, most patients feel no pain during the procedure. You are relieving the existing pain, not adding to it. Mild soreness for a day or two afterwards is common and manageable with ordinary painkillers.
Can a root canal be done in one sitting?
In most cases, yes. Single-sitting root canals are routine with rotary instruments and electronic apex locators. Complex cases or active infections may need two visits.
Why do I need a crown after a root canal?
A root-treated tooth loses moisture and becomes brittle over time. A crown protects it from fracturing. Skipping the crown is the most common reason root-treated teeth are eventually lost.
Is it better to extract the tooth instead?
A natural tooth, even one that has had a root canal, is almost always better than an implant if it can be saved well. We will tell you honestly when extraction is the better path.
What causes the need for a root canal?
Deep decay, a crack that exposes the nerve, repeated large fillings on the same tooth, or trauma. Basically, anything that lets bacteria reach the living tissue inside the tooth.
